Academy student won second place in the international competition in Grozny

Akkanat Smagulova, a student of the Academy of Choreography, took second place at the International Festival-Competition of Solo Dance named after M. Esambayev

On 15-18 October XIII International Festival-Competition of Solo Dance named after Mahmud Esambayev was held in Grozny, the capital of the Chechen Republic. It is part of the International Federation of Ballet Competitions, and is one of the most prestigious of all folk dance competitions.

The jury was chaired by Valeria Uralskaya, famous ballet historian, PhD, legendary and irreplaceable editor-in-chief of “Ballet” magazine.

Akkanat Smagulova, a 3rd year student of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography, also took part in the contest and won the second place in the category “Solo Dance”. With Akkanat competed participants from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Russia: Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Udmurtia, the Republic of Mari El, the Republic of Adygea, Ingushetia, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Tyumen, Arkhangelsk and others.

At the competition Akkanat worthily presented the national repertoire prepared by Almat Shamshiyev and Anvara Sadykova, teachers of the Academy.
