«Al-Farabi: the dialogue of civilizations»: online lecture

On May 12, 2020, an online lecture on the topic “Al-Farabi: dialogue of civilizations” was held in the library of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The lecture was held by a doctor of philosophical sciences, a Farabi studier, a professor of the Department of Philosophy of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Altayev Zhakypbek Altayuly. During the lecture, the scientist spoke about the role of Al-Farabi in the world community, about the different views of researchers in studying the heritage of Al-Farabi.

During the online meeting Zhakypbek Altayuly noted the greatness and uniqueness of the figure of Al-Farabi, who studied astronomy, logic, the theory of music and mathematics, sociology and ethics, medicine and psychology, philosophy and law. The lecturer also noted that the manuscripts of Al-Farabi are stored in many libraries of the world.

The scientist also said that domestic scientists are undertaking attempts to publish the works of Al-Farabi in Russian and Kazakh languages. The lecture was attended by employees of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography, undergraduates of Eurasian National University named after L.Gumilyov. In total more than 120 people participated to the lecture.
