The scientific and creative laboratory “ONER lab” at the Academy’s faculty of Arts as part of the scientific project “Astana Ballet Theater: performances and creators, images and performers” held a creative meeting with guest theater choreographer Ricardo Amarante and young ballet soloist Edson Arthur Machado Jr.

The moderator of the meeting was a ballet critic, professor G. Dzhumaseitova At the meeting, future ballet scholars, choreographed directors, performers and art managers received interesting and comprehensive answers to a variety of questions. Students were interested in how each of them got to Kazakhstan, the system of training and work in Western ballet schools and troupes, their impressions and perception of the national ballet of Kazakhstan.

Ricardo Amarante shared secrets of how he had ideas for future ballets about working with music and artists. He spoke in detail about his first production of the ballet “GAIA”, which he performed in the style of McMillan, inspired by the music of H. Taveras, the beauty and expressive plasticity of Kazakhstani ballerinas.

The participants appreciated the choreography in the national style of the young ballet soloist Edson Arthur Machado Jr. When asked how the Brazilian manages to perfectly perform Kazakh dances, Edson Arthur Machado Jr. answered that he is interested in different genres and he is good at everything, especially Kazakh national dances, which he himself likes. Although upon arrival in Kazakhstan, as Arthur recalls, it was difficult for him with a language barrier. The language of the dance, apparently, not only helped him defeat all the difficulties, but also fell in love with the national choreography.
