TO THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE FATHER OF KAZAKH ANIMATION…

On May 12th, the assembly hall of our Academy hosted animated films screening dedicated to celebrating the 100th anniversary of the first Kazakh animator Amen Khaydarov (1923-2015), the founder of Kazakh animation, the artist and director of animated films.

The first domestic cartoon, “Why the Swallow Has the Tail with Little Horns,” was produced in 1967 by the “Kazakhsfilm” film studio. Amen Khaydarov, who acted as the director of this film, is the founder and pioneer of Kazakh animation. In honour of the anniversary date, the event was attended by Zhalelov Talant, director of animated movies and senior teacher of the “Film and TV Direction” Department, Aidos Seyitzhan, the head of the “Film and TV Direction” Department of the Kazakh National University of Arts, and Utegenov Madi, a 5th-year “Animated Films Direction” student.

At the end of the meeting, young students of the Academy were presented with new cartoons created by Kazakh National University of Arts students.

The main goal of this event is to promote a new generation of cartoons to the new century, with the remembering of Amen Kaidarov.
