120 Years of the Musical Legacy of Yevgeny Brusilovsky

On November 25, 2025, a lecture-concert dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of one of the key figures in the history of Kazakhstan’s musical culture, Yevgeny Grigoryevich Brusilovsky, was held at the Training Theatre of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography.

Brusilovsky’s name stands at the origins of professional Kazakh musical art. His works have become an integral part of the country’s cultural code, and their sound is familiar and dear to many generations of listeners.

The event was organized by the Department of Choreographic Production in collaboration with the Department of Art Studies and Art Management.

The program included a presentation on the composer’s life, creative journey, and legacy, as well as performances of his most famous works by the accompanists of the Department of Choreographic Production. As part of the lecture-concert, the dance “Altynai” to the music of Yevgeny Brusilovsky from the opera “Er Targyn” was presented in an original production by Almat Shamshiyev, which vividly demonstrated the multifaceted talent of the outstanding composer.

Yevgeny Brusilovsky also made a significant contribution to the development of ballet music and beyond. Among his works is one of the most famous Kazakhstani ballets, “Kozy-Korpesh and Bayan-Sulu.” In total, he created four ballets and many other compositions.
