Carlos Romero and Lucía García Arrive at the Academy

Distinguished guests from Spain have arrived at the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography — Carlos Romero, dancer and choreographer of the Spanish National Ballet, and his assistant Lucía García.

As part of the creative visit, Carlos Romero will work with students of the Faculty of Choreography and the Academy’s School-College of Professional Education on staging a classical Spanish dance. He will introduce students to the distinctive features of the Spanish choreographic school, its style, musicality, and the national character of movement.

The musical basis for the choreographic work includes Boléro by Maurice Ravel and Las jotas from the ballet El sombrero de tres picos (The Three-Cornered Hat).

The work will be carried out with consideration of the students’ age and level of training. The choreographer will adapt the material for different groups while preserving the authenticity of Spanish dance, its rhythmic complexity, expressiveness, and stage energy.

The choreographer’s assistant, Lucía García, will accompany the rehearsal process, assisting with the refinement of technique, musical accents, and stylistic nuances of performance.

This visit is an important step in the development of the Academy’s international creative cooperation and provides students with a unique opportunity to gain professional experience working with leading representatives of the Spanish ballet school, broaden their artistic outlook, and deepen their knowledge of national choreography.

The visit of the Spanish guests became possible thanks to the comprehensive support of the Embassy of Spain in Kazakhstan, with which the Academy has established productive cooperation within the framework of a joint educational project aimed at supporting young talents.
