Debates Held at the Academy as Part of a Preventive Information Campaign

On March 5, 2026, the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography hosted debates with first-year students of the Faculty of Arts on the topic: “The Tradition of Bride Kidnapping: Cultural Heritage or Violation of Women’s Rights?” The event was organized as part of an information campaign to prevent forced marriage, stalking, and other forms of violence against women.

Two teams participated in the debate, each representing a specific position on the topic. The students presented their arguments, examining the historical, cultural, social, and legal aspects of this tradition, as well as its significance and consequences for women in contemporary Kazakh society.

The event was conducted in the format of an active discussion, allowing participants to express their own opinions, exchange views, and address current issues related to the protection of women’s rights and freedoms.

The debates enabled students to gain a deeper understanding of one of the most pressing social issues, enhance their legal awareness, and develop skills in reasoned discussion of socially significant topics.
