Stages of Doctoral Research

A first-year doctoral candidate at the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography, Dana Kuanyshbekova, recently held a scientific seminar presenting the focus and progress of her dissertation research.

The event was attended by a panel of esteemed scholars, including her academic advisor Dr. Aigul Kulbekova, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences and Professor, Professor Toygan Izim, Dr. Zhanna Tolysbayeva, Doctor of Philology, and Associate Professor Ainagul Mukhamedzhanova, Candidate of Philological Sciences.

The seminar centered around Kuanishbekova’s dissertation titled: “Historical and Everyday Dance in Contemporary Choreographic Education in Kazakhstan: Pedagogical Foundations, Traditions, and Innovations.”

The primary aim of the study is to improve teaching methodologies for historical and everyday dance within Kazakhstan’s choreographic education system, with a view to enhancing the professional preparation of future dancers and educators.

Key research objectives include:

  • Systematizing the academic content of the discipline
  • Analyzing existing pedagogical approaches
  • Conducting a comparative study of national and international teaching practices
  • Designing original electronic and methodological teaching materials

The scientific novelty of the project lies in the development of modern educational tools and innovative instructional resources tailored to historical and everyday dance instruction.

Expected outcomes include the modernization of course content, alignment of teaching practices with contemporary standards, and the preservation and transmission of Kazakhstan’s rich cultural and choreographic heritage.

The seminar provided a platform for productive dialogue, where attendees shared expert insights and offered valuable recommendations to further enrich the research.
