On March 20, 2026, a gala concert by the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography entitled “When the Steppe Awakens: Nauryz in Dance” will take place on the stage of the Ion Dacian National Theatre of Operetta and Musical in Bucharest, dedicated to the spring holiday of Nauryz.
Talented representatives of the younger generation of Kazakhstan’s future artists will present to the Romanian audience excerpts from world-renowned ballet productions as well as works by contemporary international choreographers.
The concert program features a vibrant selection of classical, national, and contemporary pieces, including: R. Drigo’s The Romance of the Rosebud and the Butterfly (choreography by Vasily Medvedev), L.Minkus’Paquita, P. Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, H. Løvenskiold’s La Sylphide,national dances Akbayan and Zholbarys Zhurek (Brave Heart) choreographed by Anvara Sadykova and Almat Shamshiyev to traditional music in a contemporary arrangement performed by the Hassak folk-ethnographic ensemble,the Kazakh classical piece Dreams of Love choreographed by Bulat Ayukhanov to music by Franz Liszt,as well as the contemporary work Inside to music by J.S. Bach, choreographed by Kato Nakao.
A special guest of the program will be international competition laureate, soprano Laura Ali, who will present works from both classical and national repertoires.
