The Kazakh National Academy of Choreography will perform on tour in St. Petersburg

The Kazakh National Academy of Choreography is the only educational institution in Central Asia that provides a full cycle of choreographic education. The Academy combines classical ballet traditions, national and modern dance styles. The Academy's tour will take place on March 22 at the Boris Eifman Dance Academy Theater, on the day of Nauryz, an ancient symbol of spring renewal, unity and harmony, which gives special importance to this cultural event. The guests of the evening will see fragments from famous ballet performances, as well as choreographic works by Kazakh masters. The Artistic director of the Academy is the People's Artist of Russia, Prima Ballerina of the Kirov -Mariinsky Theatre, the Royal Ballet of the United Kingdom and the Ballet National de Marseille, one of the most outstanding ballerinas of her generation - Altynai Asylmuratova.

The concert program will open with a suite from the ballet "The Romance of the Rosebud and the Moth" to the music of Ricardo Drigo, staged by Vasily Medvedev. This is the last ballet by the great Marius Petipa, which was staged more than 120 years ago, but was never shown during his lifetime. Many years later, Vasily Medvedev and the Academy of Choreography managed to create this unique ballet based on Marius Petipa and present it to the public. The ballet was premiered in 2021.

The second part will present a variety of performances to the audience, including:

  • "Animated frescoes" from the ballet "The Little Humpbacked Horse" by Arthur Saint-Leon;
  • "Dreams of Love" by Bulat Ayukhanov to the music of Franz Liszt;
  • National dances "Akbayan" and "Zholbarys zhurek" - folk music in a modern arrangement of the folklore and ethnographic ensemble "Hassak" staged by the leading masters of the national choreography of Kazakhstan – Anvara Sadykova and Almat Shamshiev;
  • the modern dance "Passing" to the music of George Frideric Handel, staged by the young Chinese choreographer Shan Gao, specially created for the students of the Academy.

This tour will serve as an important stage in the development of cooperation between the Boris Eifman Dance Academy and the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography. In November 2024, students of the Boris Eifman Dance Academy performed and took part in the III Temps lié International Ballet Festival in Astana.

The upcoming gala concert in St. Petersburg will be a continuation of this collaboration, reflecting the rich heritage and high level of training of the Academy's students. The Kazakh National Academy of Choreography invites the audience to enjoy the art of dance and feel the beauty of ballet on the stage of the Boris Eifman Dance Academy Theater.
