As part of the International Music Festival “Operalia”, and with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the highly anticipated premiere of Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s “The Sleeping Beauty” will take place on the stage of the State Opera and Ballet Theatre “Astana Opera” on June 20 and 21. This grand production will feature not only the theatre’s leading soloists and company artists but also young dancers — students of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography.

A total of 25 pupils from the Academy’s primary-level of school-college of vocational education will take to the stage alongside professional performers, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of this celebrated ballet. The legendary work, a jewel of the global classical repertoire, will be presented in a fresh interpretation choreographed by People’s Artist of Russia Altynai Asylmuratova, who serves as Artistic Director of both the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography and the Astana Opera Ballet Company.

Her production is distinguished by its expressive depth, precise movement vocabulary, and careful respect for classical traditions, which she continues to enrich on the Kazakh stage.
