Achievements of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography for 2023-2024: academic and artistic heights

The Kazakh National Academy of Choreography continues to reach new heights in the sphere of choreographic art and education.

Achievements for 2023-2024 testify to the Academy's undeniable leadership and innovative approach. We are pleased to share the Academy's major accomplishments for the past school year. The Academy is at the top of national and international rankings. Students and teachers continue to achieve outstanding results, which is confirmed by high grades and recognition. Kazakh National Academy of Choreography can proudly say that the employment rate of students reaches 100%, according to a study conducted by the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken”. This important achievement confirms the high level of professional training that the academy provides to its students. Thanks to the quality education and practical skills acquired during the training process, the Academy graduates successfully integrate into the professional environment and find themselves in the field of choreography both in Kazakhstan and outside the country.

The program “Pedagogy of Choreographic Art” also took the first place in the rating of the best educational programs of the art of NPP “Atameken” - 2023.

Creative Activity

During the 2023-2024 school year, the Academy presented 50 concerts, including 3 government concerts. The Academy presented 52 performances, including the famous Nutcracker in collaboration with the Balletto Nazionale Italiano company.

There were 35 performances in Astana Ballet theater and 16 performances in Astana Opera theater. The Academy won 52 prizes at national and international competitions, organized 40 choreographic productions and held 1 international and 1 republican competition on its base. Each of these competitions has become a platform for discovering new talents and sharing experience with colleagues from different countries. One of the significant events of 2024 for the Academy was the victory of students in one of the most prestigious, complex and highly professional in the field of ballet XVIII Open Russian Ballet Competition “Arabesque-2024”, held in Perm, Russia. The students of the Academy took 2nd and 3rd places in the junior group category.

In Latvia at the XVII International Choreography Competition “Riga Spring” the Academy won the 1st place in the nomination “Folk Dance” and the 3rd place for the best choreography. At the World Paratanz World Cup in Turkey the Academy also won 2nd and 3rd places.

Significant projects

The Academy actively initiates and participates in various significant projects:

  • III Republican competition of dances of the peoples of the world named after People's Artist of RK Gulzhan Talpakova;
  • International forum “BDA Dance Forum 2023” within the framework of the CNPC event “One Belt - One Road”, which included a tour of the Academy in Beijing (China);
  • I Republican Competition of solo male Kazakh dance named after People's Artist of the KazSSR Dauren Abirov;
  • International master classes in Russia, India, China, USA and Poland.
  • Gala concert of the Academy students in the Kyrgyz National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after A. Maldybaev in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan).

Strategic direction

The Academy conducts active scientific and research activities:

  • 2 realized scientific projects are aimed at the development of new teaching methods and improvement of choreographic art.
  • 3 funded educational and research projects contribute to improving the quality of education and introducing innovations.
  • 2 scientific laboratories and 3 funded research and development projects allow conducting advanced research and implementing its results in the educational process.
  • 4 author's certificates confirm the high level of scientific developments of the Academy.
  • The Academy has organized 24 scientific events and counts about 41 publications of master students and 2 publications of doctoral students in international journals. Masters and doctoral students undergo scientific internships abroad, in countries such as Uzbekistan and Bulgaria.

Resources and digitalization

The Academy is actively implementing digital technologies and updating the material and technical base:

  • 100% implementation of Moodle platform;
  • 100% multimedia classroom fund and 100% equipping of ballet halls and classrooms with digital equipment;
  • The Academy has a book fund of 33,774 books and actively cooperates with foreign databases such as SCOPUS and Wiley Journal Database, which allows students and teachers to keep abreast of the latest scientific achievements and research.

Each of these achievements reflects the Academy's continuous pursuit of excellence and innovation. We continue to reach new academic peaks, develop our educational programs, improve our material and technical base and expand international cooperation.
