The Academy is the only educational institution in Kazakhstan with early professional education, providing choreographic training from the elementary grade (according to the qualification "Ballet Dancer"). The Academy is included in the network of Republican specialized educational organizations for gifted children.
The Academy implements a shortcut program for ballet dancers on the basis of technical and vocational education with a 3-year study period, dual training has been developed on the basis of the leading theaters "Astana Opera" and "Astana Ballet".
Students can complete internship at 36 organizations, which include state opera and ballet theatre "Astana Opera", the “Astana Ballet” theater, Astana city akimat state academic philharmonic, Astana city akimat state dance theatre "Naz" and others.
There are more than 40 contracts, agreements, and memorandums of cooperation with foreign and national universities. Citizens of Japan, Estonia, Indonesia, Russia, China, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and other countries study at the Academy. The geography of the countries expands every year. The Academy is the regional coordinator of the Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs in Astana city.
The Academy has international institutional and specialized accreditation of university educational programs, state certification of the school-college of professional education.
In 2019, the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography took the 2nd place in the ranking of the best creative universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Since 2021, the Academy has been issuing its own diploma.
Since the 2021-2022 academic year, a dual diploma bachelor's degree program in Choreographic Art Pedagogy has been implemented with the Kazan State Institute of Culture.
In 2022, a Dissertation Council was established in the Art discipline.
Since 2018, it has become a tradition to host the “Temps Lie” international ballet festival, the international competition of young choreographers, the Shara Zhienkulova Republican Kazakh dance competition, and the Dauren Abirov Republican Kazakh male solo dance competition at the Academy.
Every year, there is a dynamic increase in the number of prize-winners and laureates of national and international competitions. The Academy's repertoire includes 2 full-fledged ballet performances "The Nutcracker" and "The Romance of the Rosebud and the Moth".
In 2022, the Academy's ballet performance "The Romance of the Rosebud and the Moth" received the UMAI National Award nomination for "Best Children's Performance". Every year, students of the Academy take part in performances of the leading theaters "Astana Opera" and "Astana Ballet".
The Kazakh National Academy of Choreography is the largest educational institution not only in Kazakhstan, but also in the whole of Central Asia. The Kazakh National Academy of Choreography implements the training of specialists in higher and postgraduate education programs based on credit-based system of education, which contributes to ensuring the continuity of educational levels, improving the quality of education, academic mobility of students and teachers.
The academic policy of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography (hereinafter referred to as the Academic Policy) includes the Academy's quality assurance policy, admission and student enrollment policy, the main regulations of the educational process according to credit-based system, development policies of modular educational programs, the procedure for registration of students in academic disciplines and the formation of an individual educational trajectory; rules for the ongoing monitoring of academic performance, intermediate and final assessment of students; organization of students' internship practice; rules of transfer, restoration of students; rules of academic honesty, etc.
The academic policy is intended for students, faculty, heads of the structural divisions of the Academy, who organize the educational process and other involved parties.
