The Academy hosted a Science Cafe meeting on the topic “What Connects Mozart and 91?”, presented by musicologist Balnur Sardarbek.

Students of the educational programs “Choreography,” “Art Management,” and “Art Studies” took part in the event. The meeting focused on the scientific analysis of music and the study of connections between classical and contemporary musical traditions.

The speaker demonstrated how musical structures, compositional techniques, and intonational features characteristic of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s works can be identified in modern Kazakhstani music, particularly in the songs of the band Ninety One. In addition, Balnur Sardarbek discussed the group’s formation, creative development, professional challenges, and contribution to the contemporary music industry in Kazakhstan.

During the discussion, participants explored music as an object of scientific research, discussing the evolution of musical styles, cultural influence, and communication with audiences. The open-dialogue format encouraged students’ academic and creative engagement.

The Science Cafe platform contributed to the development of critical thinking, a deeper understanding of the relationship between art and science, and the study of contemporary musical processes.
