On 25 November, the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography hosted a landmark event dedicated to the 120th anniversary of Abylkhan Kasteev — the first Kazakh painter and watercolorist, and a People’s Artist of the Kazakh SSR. The arts and choreography faculties organised the event.
The event allowed guests to delve deeper into the works of Abylkhan Kasteev, whose paintings bring the history of the Kazakh people to life, portraying their daily life, traditions, and the greatness of their homeland. His works not only capture scenes of life but also reflect a profound connection to native culture, expressing a heartfelt love for his country.
A highlight of the event was a performance by the choreography faculty. Through dance, the production depicted the artist’s challenging and inspiring journey, conveying his search for meaning, struggles, and drive to immortalise his homeland's beauty.
This event symbolised respect for the great master and served as an example of how various art forms can intertwine to create a unified narrative. The Academy takes pride in preserving and promoting the legacy of such outstanding figures as Abylkhan Kasteev..
