The Kazakh National Academy of Choreography proudly announces a victory at the prestigious international ballet competition Arabesque Ballet Competition–2026 named after Ekaterina Maximova, held in the city of Perm.

This competition, recognized as one of the most prestigious international ballet events, is traditionally held once every two years and brings together participants from around the world. In 2026, it took place from April 15 to 25 and was dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the project.

The event gathered talented young dancers from across the globe. A first-year student of the “Ballet Artist” qualification program at the Academy’s professional school-college, Abilmansur Syrmanov (teacher — Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aset Murzakulov), successfully passed all stages of the competition, demonstrating a high level of professional training and artistry.

Abilmansur Syrmanov was awarded the title of Second Prize Laureate (Junior Group).

In the first round, he performed the variation of Albert from the ballet “Giselle” and a variation from “Venetian Carnival.”

In the second round, he presented the variation of Prince Siegfried from “Swan Lake” and a contemporary piece “Sagynysh” (Remembrance) choreographed by Kazakh choreographer Sultanbek Gumar.

In the final third round, Abilmansur performed the variation of Basil from “Don Quixote” and the Prince’s variation from “The Nutcracker.”

Additionally, he received a special diploma from the press jury “For Academicism and Expressiveness of Dance.”

These achievements are the result not only of the individual talent of the performer but also of the dedicated professional work of the Academy’s teachers.

The Academy expresses gratitude to the organizers of the competition for providing a platform for young talents to showcase themselves on the international stage, and extends special thanks to Nurlan Konokbaev for supporting emerging artists.
