From April 19 to May 18, 2026, Dana Kuanyshbekova, a second-year doctoral student of the “Choreography” educational program at the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography, is undertaking an international research internship at the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts – GITIS (Russian Federation).

As part of the internship, work is being carried out on studying teaching methods of historical and social dance, collecting archival and educational materials, as well as conducting research in the field of choreographic education and preservation of classical heritage.

During the first days of the internship, the Academy’s doctoral student visited the Department of Ballet Mastery at GITIS and attended lectures by Professor and Doctor of Arts Anna Grutsynova devoted to the history of Russian and foreign ballet, the творчество of Marius Petipa, and the development of the Romantic ballet theatre.

In addition, Dana Kuanyshbekova attended lectures by Larisa Gorbacheva on the history of fine arts, material culture, costume, and everyday life, and also watched the performances “Don Quixote,” “Romeo and Juliet,” and “The Swan,” which contributed to expanding her professional knowledge in the field of stage and choreographic arts.

The collected materials and observations are being used in the preparation of her dissertation research and scientific article.
