On May 8, 2026, the annual gala concert of the students of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography for the 2025–2026 academic year was held on the stage of the Astana Ballet Theatre in Astana, presenting the audience with a vibrant and diverse program.

The concert consisted of two acts and featured a rich repertoire that combined various styles of choreographic art.

The first act presented a suite from Ricardo Drigo’s ballet The Romance of the Rosebud and the Butterfly staged by Vasily Medvedev. Students of different levels of training at the Academy took part in the performance, creating a vivid and imaginative world of flowers and butterflies on stage. The performers demonstrated a high level of technical skill, artistry, and harmonious ensemble work.

The second act featured pieces of classical, contemporary, and national choreography, including The Bees set to music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Grand pas academique by Léo Delibes, variations from Swan Lake by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, the pas de deux from Flames of Paris, contemporary choreographic works, as well as performances with national flavor such as Bakhar Saylisi, Sagynysh, and Akqular set to music by Nurgisa Tlendiyev and staged by Anvara Sadykova. The evening concluded with a scene from Aram Khachaturian’s ballet Gayane choreographed by N. Anisimova.

The audience rewarded the young performers with enthusiastic applause. Among the attendees were distinguished figures of the arts, delegations of foreign embassies, partners of the Academy, and representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The performances were prepared under the guidance of the Academy’s faculty members, whose professionalism, dedication, and contribution to the development of young talents deserve special recognition. Behind every outstanding performance stand daily hard work, creative exploration, patience, the ability to reveal the individuality of each student, and a sincere devotion to the art of choreography.

The annual gala concert became a vivid summary of the Academy’s work throughout the academic year, demonstrating the high level of students’ training and their readiness for the professional stage.
