Achievements of Students and Faculty of the Academy of Choreography at the Republican Olympiad and International Festival

On March 18–19, 2026, the II stage of the XVIII Republican Subject Olympiad among students of higher education institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the educational program group B028 “Choreography” was held at the Kazakh National Women’s Pedagogical University in Almaty.

The Academy of Choreography “Academy Stars” was represented by a team consisting of Milana Strusinskaya, Daria Taribo, Diana Aubakirova, and Ayaulym Beketbayeva. The team was led by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Choreography Pedagogy, A.K. Kulbekova.

The participants were trained under the guidance of the Academy’s leading instructors: Alila Tursymbaevna Alisheva, a teacher of folk-stage dance, and Izim Ospanovna Toygan, a teacher of Kazakh dance.

According to the results of the competition, the team of the Academy of Choreography “Academy Stars” took an honorable 2nd place, sharing it with the team of the T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts. The 1st place was awarded to the Kazakh National Women’s Pedagogical University team.

In addition to the students’ achievements, an important event was the participation of the Academy’s faculty in international projects. At the invitation of the A.V. Seleznev Almaty Choreographic School, Professor Alila Tursymbaevna Alisheva served as an expert at the VII International Festival “Orleu.”

Over the course of three days, experts observed an extensive program of master classes presented by participants from six countries. Particular attention was paid to preserving national characteristics in choreography and to the role of teaching methodology in maintaining cultural authenticity.

On behalf of the Academy, a master class in male Kazakh dance was conducted by senior lecturer of the Faculty of Choreography and doctoral candidate Almat Sherdarovich Shamshiev. On the second day of the festival, a gala concert was held, where the Academy’s students demonstrated a high level of professional excellence.

Within the framework of the festival, Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor Alila T. Alisheva, was awarded an honorary title and a medal from the Eurasian Cultural Foundation for her contribution to the development of science and culture in Kazakhstan.

These achievements confirm the high level of training of the Academy’s students and faculty, as well as their active participation in the development of choreographic art at both national and international levels.
