Today, April 23, at 11:30 a.m. in the walls of the Academy was held a fascinating discussion of the works of William Shakespeare within the framework of the READx project. The speaker of the event was senior lecturer of the Department of Art History and Art Management, Bulat Seitmuldinovich Abdrakhmanov, accompanied by first-year students: Aizhan Kabyldanova, Gulnaz Ospanova, Kamila Shkibaeva and Dalila Iskakova.
One of the key points raised at the discussion was the existence of William Shakespeare’s identity. Was he a real person, or the authorship of his works, such as “Hamlet” and “King Lear”, belongs to several authors? The students sensitively touched on the possibility of authorship by Francis Bacon and Edward de Vere, both of whom allegedly wrote under Shakespeare’s pseudonym.
Also, the discussion participants were shown excerpts from the movie adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, which served as an opportunity to analyze the play’s symbolism. The panel guests were able to participate in a discussion of interesting facts about theater, the production of plays, and plays from Shakespeare’s time.
The event was not only an opportunity to immerse oneself in Shakespeare’s world, but also a source of fascinating discussions about his work and enigmatic personality.
