The First Science Cafe Meeting of the New Academic Year

The first Science Cafe meeting of the new academic year was held at the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography under the theme “Art: Who Decides What Art Is and How?”.

The event was led by Bulat Seitmuldinovich Abdrakhmanov, a lecturer at the Academy. The speakers were fourth-year students of the Art Studies educational program: Aizhan Kabildanova, Kamila Shkibayeva, and Gulnaz Ospanova.

During the meeting, participants discussed the nature of art, its values, and the criteria used to evaluate artistic works. The speakers presented various approaches to understanding art and highlighted the importance of cultural context, public perception, and artistic value in shaping concepts of what is considered art.

The interactive part of the event attracted particular interest from students. Participants were divided into three teams and took part in a thematic game, where they applied their knowledge in practice, discussed contemporary issues, and shared their own perspectives on the topic.

At the conclusion of the meeting, all teams were awarded commemorative certificates and small gifts. The event was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, demonstrating the speakers’ thorough preparation and the students’ strong interest in discussing important issues related to art.

Science Cafe has become a platform for open dialogue, exchange of ideas, and the development of students’ academic and creative potential.
