Kazakhstan leads the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs

Within the framework of the X World Congress, held from October 26 to 29 in Seoul (Republic of Korea), Bolat Akchulakov, President of the Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs, was elected President of the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations.

Bolat Akchulakov's victory in the voting is a historic moment both for Kazakhstan and for the world UNESCO Clubs movement. During the meetings, the countries-participants of the Congress highlighted the unique experience of our country in the implementation of initiatives and projects of the international organization, as well as expressed hope for further successful development of the World Federation with the arrival of a new leader. The decision to elect Kazakhstan was supported by representatives of the majority of the countries-participants of the Congress, which confirmed the high level of confidence of our Republic in the international arena. The constant support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and ISESCO played an important role in achieving this result.

It is worth noting that the movement of clubs was born in 1947 in Japan with the purpose of wide promotion of key priorities and values of UNESCO among civil society. Today, this movement is represented in almost 90 countries of the world and counts about 5,000 organizations.

In his speech, Bolat Akchulakov noted: "For the Kazakhstan Federation, youth has always been a priority. In this regard, we propose to implement all the accumulated experience and lay a solid foundation for the training of future leaders of the UNESCO Club Movement around the world".

Under the leadership of Bolat Akchulakov, the Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs has achieved significant results. Today, the Federation has grown to unite 190 clubs and 17,000 active members, and has successfully organized some 550 events involving more than 45 countries. In addition, a unique international project was launched, the youth festival "The Planet of ART", which attracted some 75,000 participants.

After his election as President of the World Federation, the need to strengthen and develop UNESCO Clubs and Associations in all regions of the world, to increase their visibility and role in local communities, and to expand the number of new associations and clubs was announced as a priority. In addition, the aspiration to deepen cooperation with UNESCO and governments of the Member States for joint implementation of the key programs of the World Federation was outlined.
