Konstantin Zaklinsky: On Stage and in Life

On December 10, 2025, the Training Theatre of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography hosted the presentation of a book by critic, ballet scholar, director of the “Center for Contemporary Choreography” Public Foundation, and recipient of the “Құрмет” Order, Flyura Musina — “Konstantin Zaklinsky: On Stage and in Life.”

The book was presented to a broad audience for the first time. It explores the life and creative path of an outstanding ballet artist — leading soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre, recipient of the “Dostyk” Order, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, and teacher–répétiteur at the Astana Opera Theatre, Konstantin Zaklinsky.

It is an extraordinary journey into the world of another person — his childhood and youth, his character, the challenges he faced on the way to “pure” performance and impeccable technique, his artistic style, and his ability to teach and to learn. The book illustrates the life of this remarkable individual both on stage and beyond: his rich and diverse repertoire, his exceptional acting talent, his great ambition, determination, and diligence.

Teachers and students of the Academy listened to the author with interest, discovering new details or recognizing familiar traits of Konstantin Evgenievich described in the book.

Stories of such outstanding individuals captivate and inspire. They make us reflect and guide us forward. Flyura Musina’s book about Konstantin Zaklinsky will undoubtedly leave no true admirer of ballet art indifferent.
