The VII International Festival of Choreographic Educational Institutions “ÖRLEU. Echo of Turkic Dances” took place in Almaty, becoming one of the largest cultural and educational projects in the field of choreographic art in Central Asia.
This year, the festival was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the outstanding poet and People’s Writer of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Suleimenov.
The theme of cultural unity and historical connections among peoples was reflected in the project’s concept, which brought together the national choreographic traditions of the Turkic world.
Delegations from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Bashkortostan, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), and Kazakhstan took part in the festival.
As part of the festival, the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography presented a rich and expressive creative program, where stage mastery was harmoniously combined with the richness of national plasticity and musical traditions.
A particularly strong impression on the audience was made by the performance “Seriler Saltanaty,” choreographed by A. Sadykova and A. Shamshiyev, set to the music of the folklore-ethnographic ensemble “Hassaq.” The piece stood out as a vivid stage image filled with inner strength, nobility, and dynamic expression, conveying the beauty and uniqueness of Kazakh dance.
Equally expressive was the performance “Tastulek,” choreographed by A. Shamshiyev to the music of the folklore-ethnographic ensemble “TURAN.” This piece revealed the subtle plasticity of movement, emotional depth, and vibrant stage energy, creating a cohesive artistic work imbued with the spirit of national culture.
The Academy students’ performances were distinguished by a high level of professionalism, artistry, and a deep sense of national identity, eliciting a sincere response and great interest from both the audience and festival participants.
In addition, as part of the educational program, a master class on Kazakh dance was conducted by instructor Almat Shamshiyev. Participants became acquainted with the plasticity, rhythm, and stylistic features of male Kazakh dance and practiced basic elements and movements.
