The Planet of ART 2023

The Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs has opened applications for the musical cycle of the International Festival “The Planet of ART 2023.”

As part of the global movement that originated in Japan in 1947, the Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs was established in April 2009 and has since been carrying out large-scale efforts to promote the ideals and values of UNESCO by supporting and fostering the younger generation in Kazakhstan.

Today, Kazakhstan is home to 182 UNESCO Clubs, with a total of over 17,000 active members across more than 50 cities and 23 rural areas in 17 regions of the country. The organization implements major youth programs at the intersection of UNESCO’s three core areas: creative education, cultural heritage, and sustainable development.

On February 6, 2023, the official launch of the next musical cycle of the International Festival “The Planet of ART 2023” was announced. This year, the festival is dedicated to promoting the United Nations’ International Year of Dialogue as a Guarantee of Peace.

The primary goal of this project is to unleash the creative potential of children and youth by fostering diverse forms of cultural expression and strengthening friendships through peacebuilding based on the Culture of Peace concept.

A distinctive feature of this year's festival is the organizers' commitment to speaking the language of youth by promoting contemporary art. Additionally, the festival plays a crucial role in popularizing the works of Kazakhstani composers and choreographers by integrating modern interpretations of their works into the festival’s concert program.

Who Can Participate?

The festival invites talented participants aged 12 to 18 from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan, who wish to develop their vocal, instrumental, and choreographic skills. Participants of The Planet of ART 2023 will have the unique opportunity to represent their country and serve as young cultural ambassadors of peace on an international stage. Thanks to the support of numerous partners, participation in both the competition and the final festival program is completely free.

Following the selection process, finalists will be invited to Kazakhstan to take part in an educational and cultural program. The young artists will gain invaluable experience through workshops and masterclasses, explore Kazakhstani national culture, and collaborate with leading educators and artists from Kazakhstan. Most importantly, they will make new friends from different countries around the world.

Festival Grand Finale

The musical cycle of “The Planet of ART 2023” will culminate in two grand gala concerts in Astana and Pavlodar, featuring an award ceremony for the winners. These concerts will celebrate global musical culture and the works of Kazakhstani composers, brought together in a theatrical performance designed around this year’s festival theme: “Let’s Align Our Hearts” (Сверим сердца).
