From June 20 to 22, 2026, the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography launched professional development courses for teachers of secondary and supplementary education institutions under the educational programs “Theory and Methodology of Teaching Kazakh Dance,” “Theory and Methodology of Teaching Eastern Dance,” “Theory and Methodology of Teaching Folk-Stage Dance,” and “Classical Dance: Teaching Methodology for Junior Classes (Years 1, 2, and 3 of Study).”

Each program consists of 72 academic hours and is delivered in a blended learning format, combining face-to-face practical training with distance learning of theoretical materials.

The participants include teachers and leaders of choreographic ensembles from various regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including the North Kazakhstan, Kyzylorda, Zhambyl, Atyrau, and Akmola regions, as well as the city of Astana. The wide geographical representation of participants demonstrates the strong interest of the professional community in the Academy’s educational programs.

The professional development course “Theory and Methodology of Teaching Eastern Dance,” implemented from June 21, 2026, is included in the List of Educational Programs approved by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The relevance of the program is determined by the need to enhance the professional competencies of choreography teachers, update teaching methodologies for the dances of Eastern peoples (Uzbek, Uyghur, Tajik, Iranian, Syrian, Korean, and Chinese), and develop students’ coordination, expressiveness, and musicality.

The course instructor is Gulnara Yusupovna Saitova, Honored Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Candidate of Art Studies, Professor, winner of the “Best University Teacher – 2020” competition, Honorary Professor of the Uzbek National Academy of Choreography, and author of more than 90 scientific and educational-methodological works dedicated to the dances of Eastern peoples.

The program “Theory and Methodology of Teaching Kazakh Dance,” launched on June 22, 2026, is also included in the List of Professional Development Programs approved by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The program aims to enhance the professional competence of teachers in the context of the development of national choreographic art and the modernization of educational content, as well as to provide methodological support to teachers of Kazakh dance.

The course instructor is Anvara Aripovna Sadykova, Candidate of Art Studies, recipient of the state medal “Yeren Yenbegi Ushin” (“For Distinguished Labor”), and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Ballet Mastery.

The professional development course “Classical Dance: Teaching Methodology for Junior Classes (Years 1, 2, and 3 of Study),” implemented from June 21, 2026, is also included in the List of Educational Programs approved by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The relevance of the program is determined by the need to improve the professional competencies of classical dance specialists for their further work in the field of choreographic art and education.

The program provides methodological support to teachers in teaching techniques and performance methods of the fundamental movements of classical dance, mastering the specifics of musical accompaniment, and applying effective pedagogical methods and approaches while considering the age characteristics and training level of students.

The course instructor is Lyudmila Viktorovna Makartseva, lecturer at the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography, methodologist, and recipient of the Order of Kurmet.

The professional development course “Theory and Methodology of Teaching Folk-Stage Dance,” implemented from June 21, 2026, is also included in the List of Educational Programs approved by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The relevance of the program is determined by the need to update the professional competencies of choreography teachers aimed at improving methodologies for studying, performing, and teaching folk-stage dances, as well as developing coordination, musicality, and dance expressiveness among students.

The program instructors are:

• Alila Tursumbaevna Alisheva – Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Associate Professor, Docent in Art Studies, recipient of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Council Badge “For Contribution to the Development of Culture and Arts,” recipient of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education Award “For Contribution to Science and Education,” and author of numerous scholarly articles, books, and methodological works, including the textbook “Fundamentals of Folk-Stage Dance Directing.”
• Nazira Sarsebaevna Abdulina – Honorary Education Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, recipient of the state award “Yeren Yenbegi Ushin” (“For Distinguished Labor”), and author of standard educational programs in folk-stage dance.
• Gulmira Sergeevna Don – Honorary Education Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, recipient of the state award “Yeren Yenbegi Ushin” (“For Distinguished Labor”), and author of standard educational programs in folk-stage dance.
• Gulmira Nabiulaevna Saifullina – recipient of the medal “Excellence in Culture.”

The first days of the courses have demonstrated the participants’ high level of motivation and engagement, as well as the practical significance of the programs offered. The organizers have already received requests to conduct similar courses in the future.
