Shamshi Kaldayakov: The Melody of the Eternal Soul

A concert and literary evening dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s People's Artist Shamshi Kaldayakov was held on the stage of the training theater of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography.

While the guests were taking their seats, works by Shamshi Kaldayakov were performed on a grand piano standing on the stage, against the backdrop of the composer’s portrait.

The uniqueness of the evening in honor of the famous Kazakh composer was that it combined the beauty of dance art, the great power of music, and the talent of the Academy’s students.

The stage featured the most popular works of Shamshi Kaldayakov, including Gypsy motifs connected with Kaldayakov’s romantic life story, potpourri, waltzes, as well as the song “Menin Kazakhstanym” (“My Kazakhstan”), which is now the national anthem of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The program also included archival footage from Shamshi’s life and short theatrical sketches performed by the Academy’s students.

Such events hold special cultural and historical significance in the education of the younger generation.
