Today, on April 6, 2024, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev addressed the people due to the difficult flood situation in the country.

In light of the severe spring floods that hit ten regions of Kazakhstan after heavy snowmelt, the President of the country addressed the people, emphasizing the need for unity and solidarity during this difficult period.

The crisis, unparalleled in the last eight decades, has caused a natural disaster that requires immediate and coordinated action by the authorities and society. The President expressed the Government's determination to actively combat the consequences of the floods, while emphasizing personal control over rescue operations.

Based on the criticism and guidance, the Government has stepped up efforts to mitigate the effects of the disaster. All the resources of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Interior Ministry, the National Guard, the Armed Forces and the National Security Committee are working on the ground. The main effort is aimed at preventing human casualties and providing assistance to affected citizens.

The President also called on the public to trust only official sources of information, warning about the spread of unverified data that could cause panic. He noted the importance of consolidating government and society, and also expressed gratitude to rescuers, police officers, volunteers and all concerned citizens involved in the fight against the elements.

The Government has been instructed to develop an effective mechanism for damage compensation and ensure law and order in the flooded territories. There is also a willingness to send additional military units to help in the fight against the elements.

The situation remains difficult, but it is important to act as a united front. Together, with the support of the state and the active participation of every citizen, Kazakhstan will be able to overcome this disaster and rebuild the affected regions.
