Gala concert of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography was held in Almaty

On March 4, 2023 on the stage of the ALMATY THEATRE in Almaty a gala-concert of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography was held. Gala-concert performances in Almaty have become a good annual tradition for the institution.

Students of the Academy presented to the audience fragments of ballet performances of the classical heritage of M. Petipa, A. Vaganova, V. Vainonen and others, as well as productions of contemporary choreographers.

In the first part of the concert the young artists performed grand pas from the classical masterpiece, “Paquita” by L. Minkus, and in the second part the students of the Academy of Choreography delighted the audience with divertissement of concert numbers of classical heritage, modern choreography and national Kazakh dances. Note that the program of the evening also included dances choreographed by the Academy’s teachers, A. Sadykova and A. Shamshiyev, and the heartfelt Open Eyes dance to the music of Christian Reindl & Lucie Paradis was choreographed by S. Gumar, a student of the Academy who is studying ballet art.

“Tonight was a special evening – our students performed for the first time on the stage of the wonderful Almaty Theatre. The concert that was presented to the audience today was the work of a large group: it is no secret that the best teachers teach at our Academy, and for our pupils the performance in Almaty was a long-awaited event, and they were preparing for it with special diligence. They had to perform in front of the coryphaei of Kazakh choreographic art, it is a great honor for us, and we hope that the concert pleased the audience, leaving a bright impression”, said the rector of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography Bibigul Nussipzhanova.
