“Rosebud and moth romance” will take place on the stage of “Astana Opera” on April 27 and 28

On April 27 and 28, the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography will present Marius Petipa’s ballet Rosebud and the Moth to music by Ricardo Drigo at the Astana Opera Theater.

This creation of the great Petipa was the last and, unfortunately, never performed during his lifetime.

Many years later, it has been possible to recreate this unique ballet and present it to audiences.

The libretto of the ballet was recreated by choreographer VASILY MEDVEDEV and librettist YANA TEMIZ on the basis of the original libretto by Ivan Vsevolozhsky. The choreography of the ballet was practically lost and was created anew for staging in Kazakhstan by VASILY MEDVEDEV. The author of the orchestral score was musician and arranger, honored worker of Kazakhstan DAULET SHAKIROV. The costumes for the ballet were created based on sketches of Ivan Vsevolozhsky by artist NATALYA PROTASOVA; stage design by JANDOS OMAROV.

The ballet features all forms of classical dance: large ensembles, pas de citre, pas de carte, pas de trois, adagio, variations.
