The Republican scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of D. Abirov was held at the Academy

On November 3, 2023, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the outstanding choreographer and performer of Kazakh dance Dauren Abirov, a scientific conference was held at the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography. The event attracted public attention and became a real celebration dedicated to the life and work of the famous artist. The conference brought together art historians, choreographers and professional dancers from Kazakhstan and abroad. Conference participants shared their research and publications related to the work of Dauren Abirov.

At the beginning of the conference, participants were presented with an exhibition of unique photographs reflecting the creative life of Dauren Abirov. The curator of the exhibition was senior teacher Sadykova Anvara. The inspirational lecture allowed each participant of the event to feel the atmosphere of creativity of the twentieth century and understand the scale of Dauren Abirov’s activities.

Without a doubt, the main event of the evening was the presentation of several books associated with the name of the hero of the day. There was a presentation of the book “Dauren Abirov – the first choreographer of Kazakhstan,” which was co-authored by Izim T.O. and daughter D.T. Abirova – Kamili Abirova. Also K.D. Abirova donated her republished book “Dances dedicated to the childhood” by Dauren Abirov to the Academy’s library. At the same event, conference guest K.D. Aitkalieva donated her monograph book “Dauren Abirov is the Leader of Kazakh Choreorgaphy” to the Academy’s library.

The plenary session of the conference was opened with a congratulation speech by the Rector of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography, Professor Bibigul Nusipzhanova, and the People’s Artist of Kazakhstan G.I. Talpakova also greeted the guests.

The daughter of Dauren Abirov –  K.D. Abirova  took part in the event as an invited guest and she shared archival footage from the life of D. Abirov.

The main speakers of the plenary session were candidate of art history, Honored Cultural Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.D. Aitkalieva, cultural worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan T.Zh. Klyshbaev, cultural worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, best educator T. Bakhtybaev, professor of the Academy T.O. Izim, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor of Art History A.K. Kulbekova, doctoral student of the Academy A.S. Shamshiev.

The speakers in their reports examined the methodology of national choreography in the context of D. Abirov and reflected the stages of his creative activity.

As a continuation of the conference, an event was held in the beloved format of the Science café, where the conference participants continued a lively dialogue on the topic “Kazakh dance art in China”, the speaker was a teacher at the Xinjiang Academy of Arts  Kaster Shaimurat. In his speech he introduced his own research work into Kazakh dance and showed his vision of the development of Kazakh national dance in China and Kazakhstan.
